Tom Atkin Hall
The Tom Atkin Hall, centrally located in Tugun, is an ideal space for social gatherings, activities and events. Built by volunteers in the 1960s, it originally served as a local venue for public meetings and functions.
Today the Tom Atkin Hall is a historic landmark and a hub for cultural events covering wellness groups, choirs, dance, live music and theatre style performances.
As the Gold Coast’s only community-owned and community-run, not-for-profit hall, the Tom Atkin Hall represents a unique asset for the people of the southern Gold Coast.
Being a public venue, the Tom Atkin Hall is available for everyone in the community for any type of show, event, class or group activity that you may want to organise or participate in.
The Tugun Progress Association proudly serves as the trustees of this the Tom Atkin Hall.
Tom Atkin Hall Rejuvenation Project
In 2022, the Tugun Progress Association launched the Tom Atkin Hall Rejuvenation project to provide inclusive access to performance and exhibition space, enhancing community wellbeing.
TPA member, local legend and architect Philip Follent was behind the design and received a citation from GCCC for Urban Design for Adaptive Reuse - “Tom Atkin Hall is an inspiration for showing what great civic value can come from committed local community action and good design.”
Our fundraising continues with tax-deductible donations ($20, $50, $1,000) accepted through the Australian Cultural Fund website, supporting projects like solar panels on the new roof, replacement windows and soundproofing.
The Tom Atkin Hall Rejuvenation Project is managed by the TPA committee. For more information, please get in touch.
